Valerie Miller, director of food service and nutrition, presented vendor-contract recommendations and the proposed meal-pricing schedule for school year 2025–26.
Miller said the district recommends contracts through the K–12 Indiana cooperative for vendors including US Foods (mainline distributor/premier contract and DNO produce through US Foods), Piazza Produce for fresh produce, Dairy Farmers of America for dairy, Alpha and Bridal Commercial Food Systems for snacks and a la carte, Velvet Ice Cream, Smart Mouth Pizza for secondary pizza service, and Smart Systems for warewashing and sanitizing supplies. Several contracts are in year-two renewals under the cooperative.
Miller also presented proposed meal prices for 2025–26; she told the board there is no change to student meal pricing for next year though the district will update a la carte pricing and continue to seek competitive bids to contain costs. The board approved accepting bids for 2025–26 vendors and approved the school meal prices and charge procedures by voice vote.
Board members thanked Miller and noted busy lunch lines at high school as evidence of demand. Miller confirmed staff solicit bids and evaluate pricing to keep costs low.
