Delaware County awards $63,000 contract for corrective repairs to OECC centrifuge

The Delaware County Board of Commissioners approved a services agreement with Andritz Separation Inc. on June 2 for corrective maintenance repairs to the D4 LL centrifuge at the county's OECC facility.
"This is a routine service contract on our centrifuge at the OECC facility," said Tiffany Mag, director of environmental services. Mag told the board that the equipment is about 25 years old and that the current contract is higher than typical because seals and bearings must be replaced.
Mag said the county typically spends about $44,000 for this service every two-and-a-half to three years, but the current work is estimated at about $63,000 because of the additional parts and heavier-duty maintenance required. "I think it's a $63,000 contract, and this is something that we haven't had to replace those at all and it's about 25 years old. So it was time for a little bit heavier duty equipment, maintenance on this piece of equipment," Mag said.
The board approved Resolution No. 25-422 to authorize the contract. Commissioners Barb Lewis and Jeff Benton voted to approve; Commissioner Gary Merrill was absent.
The contract covers corrective maintenance to keep the centrifuge operational; county staff characterized the work as part of standard equipment lifecycle maintenance rather than a new capital purchase.
