Deputy County Administrator Eric Hostetler told commissioners on June 12 that the county currently leases the facility used by the Alpha Group of Delaware and proposed a first extension of that lease timed to a state funding arrangement.
"The term for that lease is up this summer," Hostetler said, and he confirmed the extension would run through Feb. 28, 2031 to align with the state funding term. Commissioners voted to approve Resolution 25-439, extending the lease through that date.
Relatedly, the board approved Resolution 25-440, a temporary use permit for Alpha Group's annual meeting and tented event planned for Sept. 11 on the organization's parking lot. Hostetler explained the city of Delaware changed its permitting requirements so the county — as property owner — must sign the permit; Alpha Group indicated the event expects about 140 attendees. Commissioners recorded unanimous aye votes on both items.
No county funding for Alpha Group was authorized at the meeting; the lease extension was presented as an administrative alignment with existing state funding and a future evaluation of facility use after the funding term ends.
