Elmsford announces summer reading kickoff, park hours and youth programs

Mary Ann Riven, the children's librarian at Bosley, told the Elmsford Board of Trustees on May 19, 2025, that the library will host second‑grade field trips and that the summer reading club will kick off June 28 at 11 a.m. The program will serve children finishing kindergarten through fifth grade and will include events tied to a seasonal theme.
Library outreach to the Olson School District and plans for summer events were described during the meeting; staff said program flyers and event notices will be distributed in June. "Their summer reading club will kick off on June 28 at 11AM," the meeting record shows.
Recreation staff reported that youth soccer began May 10 and that high attendance prompted schedule adjustments to ease traffic and parking. Volleyball practices were reported with about 25 girls attending weekly sessions; staff said they expect to add another session in winter to meet demand. The village's new park was announced to open over Memorial Day weekend with hours from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends through June 30; a more full schedule for the season will follow.
Summer camp is set to begin July 7. Staff noted openings remain in some groups and asked residents to register. Recreation is still hiring college aides, counselors, medical staff and lifeguards, and staff directed residents to the village website for application information.
Trustees were also informed that the fire department will participate in annual Memorial Day services and that local schools have a May 20 budget vote and election that may require resident turnout.
