Commission authorizes letter of intent to purchase downtown property at 3280'3296 University Drive

The Coral Springs City Commission authorized staff on June 18 to proceed with a commercial purchase letter of intent for property at 3280 through 3296 University Drive, a downtown parcel the city has been exploring for redevelopment.
City Manager Catherine Givens told the commission that staff negotiated a binding letter of intent with the property owner at a price below the appraisal and that the agreement provides the city the ability to complete due diligence with a closing targeted by November 1, 2025. Givens said the negotiated price is "well below the appraised price" and that the agreement remains subject to standard due-diligence steps.
Commissioner McHugh thanked staff for negotiating the favorable terms and said the parcel creates "a great opportunity" for potential downtown uses. The commission moved, seconded and approved the authorization unanimously.
