After meeting in closed session, the San Benito CISD Board of Trustees on May 14 approved multiple personnel actions brought forward by Superintendent Perez.
The board approved renewal of term contracts for teachers, librarians, nurses (RNs) and instructional coaches for the 2025–26 school year and separately approved renewal of probationary contracts for the same groups. The superintendent also asked the board to approve employment separations (resignations, retirements and terminations) presented during executive session; the board approved those personnel items.
Separately, the board took action on one nonrenewal: the district moved to nonrenew a 2024–25 term contract for a teacher identified in the minutes as “teacher AT.” The board also approved a rescission of a previously authorized termination of a probationary contract and the related agreement; the superintendent said the rescission and related agreement should be approved as discussed in executive session.
Motions to approve the various contract actions were made during open session after the board returned from executive session; motions were seconded and passed by the board. The meeting record shows multiple motions by board members (including Miss Hernandez and others) with seconds and final approval votes recorded as passed; the minutes do not include a public roll‑call vote tally for each item. The administration indicated these actions reflected standard end‑of‑year personnel processing and that affected employees had been handled under the district's personnel policies and Texas law.
