The board also discussed donor‑funded mental‑health services. Administrators described a plan developed with Samaritan to use donated funds to provide school‑based counseling by parent approval, to supply an alternate agency for students on waiting lists for therapy and to preserve donor intent. The plan is intended to shorten wait times for counseling and supplement existing services.
Superintendent Dr. Nell also reported on staff fundraising: the district’s Genes for a Cause program raised $11,540 to support local charities including Mesa, Blessings of Hope and the Community Cupboard of Elizabethtown. Board members praised the programs and asked administrators to continue monitoring outcomes and capacity as the initiatives expand.
