The Ysleta Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the sale of two district-owned properties on Alameda Avenue after a closed-session negotiation and vote on May 14, passing the motion 6-1.
Trustee Mike Dwyer moved to approve the bids and sale of the two properties (listed in meeting materials as 7090 Alameda Avenue and 7988 Alameda Avenue, El Paso), and Trustee Shane Haggerty seconded the motion. The board cast electronic votes; six trustees voted in favor and one opposed.
The board convened in closed session to discuss the possible sale and related bids under exemptions listed in the Texas Open Meetings Act, and reconvened in open session to consider the resolution approving the sales. The motion as recorded authorized the district to proceed with the sales and to adopt the related board resolution, as presented in closed session.
Board materials and the closed-session discussion were cited as the basis for the motion; trustees did not discuss sale amounts in open session during the recorded vote. Administration will follow up with the board on the sale paperwork and any closing timelines required by the contracts and applicable law.
No further action on other real-estate matters was taken during open session on May 14.
