The Guthrie City Council unanimously approved a construction agreement with Crossland Construction for the city’s pocket park project on June 17 after staff reported the apparent low bid came in under the budgeted amount.
“ We received a bid from Crossing Construction that came in under budget for the completion of our pocket park project,” City staff member Shonda Rooney told the council during the consent part of the meeting. Rooney said staff solicited additional bids to ensure competitive pricing.
Council asked whether the contractor was ready to start work if the contract was approved; staff confirmed construction could begin once the agreement was executed. A councilmember moved to approve the contract and another councilmember seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Contract and procurement details were not read into the record beyond the confirmation that the apparent low bidder was under budget and that staff had solicited another bid to ensure price competitiveness. Staff will proceed with contract execution and scheduling with Crossland Construction.
