Camden County elections office reports May finances: overall under budget but several line items over

The Camden County elections office reported at the board meeting that it is operating within its fiscal year budget overall but flagged several line-item overages that staff are investigating.
Election Supervisor Shannon Nettles told the board the office is “still at about 79% of our 24–25 fiscal year budget” but said cellphone charges have been nearly double what was budgeted and that advertising and publishing costs were higher than anticipated due to an unanticipated Tribune rate. Nettles also pointed to travel expenses that appear much higher than anticipated on the report and said some travel charges were intended to be coded to education and training rather than travel.
Nettles said the office picked up janitorial supplies costs after planning moved out of the annex, which may have increased that line. She told the board she had asked for a report on other supplies and small equipment charges to verify the full-year totals and would follow up once those reviews are complete.
No board action was taken on the financial report; Net tles asked whether there were any questions and said she would return with reconciled line-item details after further review.
