Grays Creek High School honors Class of 2025 at commencement ceremony

The ceremony included remarks from senior class president Denasia Campite, who thanked teachers, administrators and families: “To the teachers who helped us these past four years, they taught us a lot. … We would not be walking across this stage without your support,” Campite said. Salutatorian Sierra Hagenis reflected on the class’s journey and quoted Albert Einstein: “Life is like riding a bicycle; to keep your balance you must keep moving.”
Earlier in the program, the student speaker roster named members of the Cumberland County Board of Education and district administrators present, including Deanna Jones (board chair), Judy Musgraves (vice chair), and Marvin Conley Jr., superintendent of Cumberland County Schools. Administrators and principals from feeder schools were also recognized by name.
An announcer read the graduates’ names individually; the transcript contains a long list of those names, but does not state a total number of graduates. After the names were called, the school’s principal — identified in the transcript as the person presiding over the ceremony — formally declared the students graduates “by the power given to me by the Cumberland County Schools Board of Education and Dr. Marvin Conley Jr.” The transcript includes a dated reference to “class of 2024” during the pronouncement, but the program and multiple student speakers identified the group as the Class of 2025.
The ceremony closed with the traditional tassel turn and a call to celebration. No school- or district-level policy decisions or votes were recorded during the event.
