Principal Marquez presented the district's FairSight preschool program self‑evaluation to the board May 26, reporting strong kindergarten‑readiness gains across academic, social and emotional domains and high parent satisfaction.
Marquez told trustees the program served five preschool classrooms and 135 enrolled children in the year reviewed, with 23 children participating in the home‑visitation component. Staff use multiple measures—including the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP), the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and parent surveys—to track child progress and program quality. Marquez said 97 four‑year‑old students met the program’s color‑recognition benchmark by spring and highlighted movement on English language development and social‑emotional measures from fall to spring.
On the parent survey (50 respondents), Marquez reported 100% of respondents indicated satisfaction with program quality and that children are safe and happy at school. She said two areas for improvement are providing families with clearer information about accessing community services and increasing information on discipline procedures.
Board members praised staff and were invited to visit FairSight classrooms; Marquez said staff will continue to refine outreach and program practices to strengthen transitions to kindergarten.
