Councilmember Missus Bolling moved to have the first reading; Councilmember Mister Garten seconded. During discussion, Councilmember Mister Moore asked how the county’s 911 plan and related communications flow to Norwood and what opportunities the city has to provide input. He said he had received correspondence from county staff and wanted clarity on where such materials should be routed within the city.
City staff answered that the request for approval on the county 911 plan originated with Fire Chief Tom McCabe and that the county takes feedback from area emergency responders when developing the plan. Staff said there is some back-and-forth during plan development, but at the council level there is typically limited opportunity to modify county policy documents; the council’s approval is a municipal step required under state law.
Council approved the motion to schedule a first reading by a unanimous roll call of members present. No amendments or substantive changes to the county plan were made by the council during the June 3 meeting; the motion was procedural to place the resolution for a first reading.
