The North Ridgeville City Board of Education approved a slate of human resources items in a single reading at its June 3 regular meeting, including the appointment of Wendy Fanta as treasurer and the hire of Sarah Reisinger as a high school social studies teacher.
Board member Mr. Haynes moved to approve the human resources items in one reading; Ms. Saxon seconded the motion. The board approved the motion by roll-call vote. Members voting yes included Mr. Haynes, Ms. Saxon, Mr. Grigsby, Ms. McCarthy and Mr. Baucom; the clerk recorded the motion as approved.
The human resources package included multiple personnel actions listed in the meeting: one administrative resignation, one support-staff resignation, a treasurer contract, certified staff appointments, extended-school-year certified contracts, extended-school-year special-education aide contracts, a bus driver aide contract for extended school year, summer-school and private-school certified substitute contracts, support-staff substitute contracts, and several contract adjustments and handbook amendments. The board took a single formal vote to approve these items.
The board also publicly introduced Sarah Reisinger as a newly appointed certified staff member. The superintendent said Reisinger comes from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, where she taught social studies for three years, and that she is a graduate of Brunswick High School and Miami University; Reisinger is expected to work with the high school's STEM track and to teach some upper-level social studies courses.
Board members also announced the treasurer appointment. Wendy Fanta will move from interim treasurer to treasurer, officials said. The superintendent described Fanta's prior experience as coordinator of fiscal services for the district and earlier roles in North Olmsted City Schools and Avon Schools, stating she holds a treasurer's license and has overseen fiscal practices and professional development within the district.
Separately, during the consent and communications reports the board received several first readings of education items. Those first-reading items include a Connect service contract for 2025โ26, the Southeast Security annual maintenance agreement, a proposed five-year agreement with Sabas to continue using Miller and Levine biology materials, a Lorain County interagency agreement for early-learning services, and contracts with day-treatment providers (listed as Hurston and Monarch) and with the Lorain County Board of Disabilities/Moraine Ridge Center for preschool services. District officials said the items presented tonight are first readings; the second reading and consideration for approval of the education items was scheduled for June 30, and a second reading of new and revised policies was scheduled for June 17.
The communications report listed gifts accepted by the district: poster boards and face paint from the Meister family; a $15 donation from Chuck Skubovius; used musical instruments donated by Ashley Honey and Christina Sullivan; $2,214 from the LC PTA for teacher grants; and five bicycles donated by the North Ridgeville Police Department for a Girls in Gear bike camp. The district thanked community donors for supporting students and programs.
Why it matters: approving multiple personnel and fiscal contracts in a single vote sets district staffing and financial leadership for the coming year, and the first readings signal forthcoming board decisions on vendor contracts and program agreements.
The board adjourned after completing the evening's business; the district has scheduled follow-up votes and public hearings for later in June and July.
