The Estill County Board of Education approved a group of memoranda of agreement (MOAs) on June 19, including a change that converts a part-time athletic trainer arrangement into a full-time trainer supplied by Bluegrass Orthopedics.
District staff described the MOAs as routine agreements covering programs such as engineering and PT Mountain comps; the notable change is the athletic-training MOA, which will make the trainer the same individual the district has worked with previously but in a full-time capacity.
Why it matters: Staff said a full-time trainer is needed to support expanded athletics programs. The MOAs were approved as a package; board members voted 5-0 to carry the motion.
"This new MOA would give us a trainer full time, which I think we need, especially with expansion of athletics," a staff member said when presenting the item. The board approved the MOAs after a motion and second.
