The Estill County Board of Education on June 19 approved staffing policies and salary schedules for 2024–25 and 2025–26, including reinstating stipends that staff said were inadvertently omitted from last year’s documents.
Superintendent-level staff told the board the district had previously paid stipends for the virtual academy principal position and STLP roles and recommended restoring those payments. The board approved the 2024–25 staffing policy and salary schedule and then separately approved the 2025–26 schedule; both votes carried 5-0.
Why it matters: The approvals resume compensation items staff indicated the district had historically paid and finalize next year’s schedule ahead of the new school year.
A staff member said the 2025–26 schedule mirrors the prior year with only minor changes and includes the virtual academy and Success Academy principal positions. The board’s action returns the two missing stipends to the schedules and adopts the minor updates for 2025–26.
Board members moved and seconded the motions; roll-call confirmation noted Sharon Whitaker’s yes vote via Zoom and an additional four affirmative votes in the room.
