A Lawrenceburg resident, identified in the meeting as P.G. Gentry, asked Dearborn County commissioners June 17 to provide a letter of support to state lawmakers to name two flyover bridges into Lawrenceburg after local veterans Thomas G. Denning and Larry D. Fogel.
Gentry described local connections to the veterans and a scholarship fund established at Lawrenceburg High School in their names. He said he had drafted a letter and sent it to the commissioners in the meeting packet and requested that the board sign and return it to staff so he could forward it to state legislators.
A commissioner moved and seconded a motion that Administrator Sue Aden prepare and deliver a letter of support for renaming the bridges in the City of Lawrenceburg that span Tanners Creek after the veterans; the motion was approved and Gentry said he would collect signatures and forward the document to Garrett Bascom to advance the request with state lawmakers.
Commissioners thanked Gentry for his service and said they would sign the letter and transmit it as requested.
