Treasurer authorized to sign five-year lease for updated postage machine to meet USPS software changes

Dearborn County commissioners on June 17 authorized Treasurer Hailey Hatfield to sign a five-year lease for a new postage machine and maintenance package.
Hatfield told the board the current lease with Pinnacle runs through December and that postal-service software changes in 2027 will obsolete existing QR-code printing on older machines. She said the vendor recommended a replacement lease to ensure the machine and software are compliant and that the monthly lease price could increase if the county waited until December to sign.
Hatfield said the proposed lease is for 60 months (five years) and that maintenance, repairs and required software updates are included. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved a motion authorizing the treasurer to sign the postage machine lease and arrange installation of the replacement unit.
Hatfield said the vendor will replace the existing machine, install the updated software required by the Postal Service and remove the old unit. Commissioners also noted the vendor is Indiana-based and responsive for service calls in the region.
