The Plan Commission approved two memorial-donation requests June 18 for the Pike River Pathway: one ADA-accessible picnic table with an inscription plaque and one memorial bench, both to be installed on new or existing pads along the pathway.
George, parks staff, said the picnic table will use the same recycled-plastic and cedar-color materials as existing site furnishings and will be sited off the primary pathway to preserve circulation. "We typically do the 8 by 6 by 8, so we may need to go to 8 by 10 just to provide the adequate amount of space," George told the commission. He said the donor supplied multiple preferred locations; staff will choose the best specific pad and finalize placement to preserve safety and access.
Commissioners approved the proposed inscription for the bench and the table and authorized staff to finalize exact locations, subject to staff review of ADA access and clearances. Staff noted production lead time is roughly 8–10 weeks for the custom pieces.
No opposition or public comment was offered at the meeting. The donations will proceed under the village’s established memorial-donation policy with placements and inscriptions subject to final staff approval.
