School committee ratifies teachers’ contract after bargaining team recommendation

The committee’s roll-call vote on the memorandum of agreement recorded two abstentions: Mister Gonzales and Miss Hurst abstained, noting potential conflicts; other members voted yes or were absent as recorded by the clerk. The motion to ratify was made by Mister Collins and seconded by Attorney Murphy.
Committee members said the agreement was a negotiated settlement consistent with past bargaining practice and commended both the internal team and the SEA negotiators for concluding the process. The ratification authorizes the district to implement contract provisions subject to the terms in the memorandum and to proceed with any required administrative steps to fund and administer the new agreement.
