The Springdale Planning Commission on June 18, 2025, recommended approval of a narrowly tailored amendment to the town’s sign code that clarifies the prohibition of A-frame signs also applies to other portable signs regardless of shape.
Nile Connolly, a town staff member, said the change responds to ambiguity in current code language and was discussed at a prior work meeting. The proposed text is a short clarification intended to make enforcement consistent without changing the town’s overall policy on portable signage.
The planning commission opened and closed a public hearing; no public speakers were recorded on the item. Commissioners said they supported the limited wording change. Commissioner Terry Kruschke moved that the commission recommend approval of revisions to chapter 10.24, and Commissioner Jennifer McCullough seconded the motion.
The motion passed with recorded “aye” votes from Commissioners McCullough, Kruschke, Tom Kinston, Paul Zimmerman and Kash Bate. Commissioners emphasized the amendment is a code-clarifying edit rather than a policy shift, and that any broader changes to allowable signage would be considered separately if the commission determines a policy change is needed in the future.
The recommendation will be forwarded to the next step in the town’s code-adoption process.
