CMCSS reports wide ParentSquare adoption, new family resources and growth in career-technical enrollment

District communications staff presented data Tuesday showing higher family engagement after rolling out ParentSquare and new family-facing resources intended to help parents support student learning.
"By our spring quarter ... contactability was effectively 100 percent," Chief Communications Officer Anthony Johnson said, reporting that the district sent nearly 3 million auto notices and direct messages. Johnson said about 75% of parents have registered with ParentSquare and about 60% have downloaded the app. "Text message ... is the most preferred reach method," he added.
Elizabeth Benson, who presented parent-survey data, said about 17,500 survey responses represented roughly a 38% response rate of parents in the district’s parent database (about 42,000 parent/guardian records). Benson said overall agreement that "my child is learning what he or she needs to be prepared for the future" was about 92–93%, with a narrowing gap between elementary and secondary families after targeted work.
Jessica Goldberg described new materials for families, including "Navigating Your Future" brochures for middle and high school, an online parent academic resource hub with pacing guides and instructional videos, and microsites for 35 CTE pathways. Goldberg said focused communication about the district’s early technical college (ETC) pathway and dual-enrollment options produced a notable increase in applications since the 2022–23 school year.
Board members and representatives from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Association (CMCEA) and PET praised the ParentSquare rollout. A CMCEA representative said ParentSquare "makes my job so much easier" for communicating with parents. No board action followed the presentation; the discussion concluded with board appreciation for the communications and CTE recruitment work.
The district encouraged schools to consolidate communications into ParentSquare next school year and noted that non-sanctioned extracurricular groups cannot be added to school-managed ParentSquare rosters.
