Board accepts ‘Executive Limitation 8’ report; district cites Cognia review and ISO progress

The Montgomery County Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday to accept the director of schools' monitoring report for Executive Limitation 8, which covers the district’s accountability program, accreditation and reporting.
Dr. Luna Vedder told the board the district uses a strategic planning process that relies on level 1 student achievement data and level 2 department performance data and that the administration routinely meets with school leaders and stakeholder groups. "The district is currently working on high school accreditation updates with Cognia and is due to be completed in fall 2026," she said. She also said the district began an ISO certification transition in 2021 and in April 2025 "was recommended for unconditional approval for the third year in a row."
Board member Garland moved to accept the report; Bryant seconded. The vote passed 6-0.
Vedder described the district’s accountability measures as tied to annual measurable objectives based on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) baseline and said senior leadership designs annual strategic work in response to state and national changes and stakeholder feedback.
The board recorded no further substantive discussion before voting to accept the monitoring report.
