At its June 17, 2025 meeting, the Town of Rutland Select Board voted to carry the Cortina settlement funds forward as a separate account for the next fiscal year.
Board discussion noted the town has historically kept Cortina settlement proceeds segregated from the capital improvements fund so the money is available for police purposes; the town previously appropriated $150,000 from the Cortina fund toward the police budget without earmarking it for a particular purchase. A motion to continue the fund as a separate account was made, seconded and approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Select Board members said they will report the balance after final settlements are complete. No further action was taken at the meeting.
