Committee forwards sign code change that counts window signs toward wall-sign area

The Cheyenne Public Services Committee on June 16 recommended that the City Council approve changes to the Unified Development Code that alter allowances for window signage and clarify prohibited signs.
Seth Lloyd, Planning and Development Department staff, said the item “proposes changing unified development code to increase the allowances for window signs and also to change the allowances or clarify, prohibited signage.” He noted a council action on June 11 adjusted the window-sign allowance so that window signs are counted toward the wall-sign area; a substitute reflecting that council-approved motion was available to the committee.
There were no public comments on the ordinance at the committee meeting. Dr. Aldridge moved approval on third and final reading; Dr. Emmons seconded. The committee voted by voice to recommend the ordinance for final approval at Monday’s council meeting.
The committee record shows the June 11 substitute — which implements the council motion to count window signage toward wall-sign area — is the document that will be carried forward.
