Naomi Iwasaki was elected chair of the Interagency Transportation Equity Advisory Committee (EAC) Data Implementation Subcommittee during the group’s virtual meeting on June 17, 2025.
“I’m happy to nominate myself. This is Naomi Iwasaki,” Naomi Iwasaki said when the subcommittee opened the floor for nominations. The motion to nominate Iwasaki was seconded by Florence and then approved by roll call.
Clerk Kirk conducted the roll call. Gary Joaquim Hernandez, Abamel Chavez Hernandez, Naomi Iwasaki and Lawrence Simon each answered “Yes” when called; the chair election was recorded as approved.
The subcommittee chair’s responsibilities, as described by staff during the meeting, include facilitating subcommittee meetings, working with Caltrans staff to develop meeting agendas, reporting back to the full EAC on subcommittee activities, and introducing any recommendations or actions the subcommittee wishes the full EAC to consider.
Staff said they will work with Chair Iwasaki on scheduling and priorities for the subcommittee’s next meetings and on preparing a report out of the June 17 discussion for the full EAC.
