The Superior Common Council on Jan. 15 approved multiple operational items on the consent agenda, including a one-year contract extension for statewide structural collapse team members, authorization for a tax-deed property purchase and resale, an airport management contract, several committee reappointments and an amendment to the city's sewer hauled-waste ordinance.
Fire Chief Panger requested and the council approved an extension of the contract for statewide structural collapse team members from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2013. The extension was approved by voice vote.
The council authorized the Planning Director to purchase a tax-deed property at 419 (address redacted in transcript) from Douglas County for $3,000, to waive the land-sale process and to enter a purchase agreement to sell the parcel to Bichon Group for $10,000. The motion to approve carried on a voice vote.
Public Works Director Gessman asked the council to award the Richard I. Bong Memorial Airport management contract to Twin Ports Flying Service, with Bill Amorte identified in the meeting as its president; the council approved the award by voice vote.
Mayor Hagan recommended committee appointments and reappointments: reappointing Mike Hood to the Liability Claims Committee and appointing John Conway and Aaron Dandria to the Bid Board of Directors; the council approved the appointments by voice vote.
Environmental Services Interim Administrator Roberts introduced an ordinance amending Chapter 114, Utilities, Article 2, Sewer Usage — Disposal of Hauled Waste. The council moved, seconded and approved the ordinance on voice vote.
