The City Council approved Resolution 2025-23 to declare several items owned by the Civic Center surplus and to sell them at auction on July 3. Staff said eight items will be advertised for bid to clear the Civic Center garage and reduce storage of unneeded equipment.
City staff described efforts to reuse items among departments when possible and said the Civic Center Commission approved the proposal because the items were owned by the Civic Center rather than the city at large. Staff listed lawn equipment and some household appliances among the items being cleared.
A city staff member explained: “So this time, it's at the Civic Center. Still working to just get everything looking great up there. So, Mark and the crew up there was looking through the garage and just found a bunch of lawn items that they no longer need.” The speaker later noted, “There's randomly a stove... there's, like, a washer and dryer in there too.”
The resolution was moved and seconded; the council recorded a 7-0 vote in favor. Staff said items that other departments could use were transferred to those departments prior to the auction. The auction is scheduled for July 3, and staff said the sale will help clear storage space and avoid new purchases where usable equipment exists.
