Phenix City Mayor Eddy N. Lowe and the City Council on April 2025 read a proclamation honoring the Phenix City Central High School girls flag football team for consecutive state championships and a national title, recognizing coaches and student-athletes for their season-long performance.
The proclamation noted the team’s undefeated 19-0 season, a 37-game winning streak, and statistical totals read aloud by the city clerk. The statement highlighted coach Mitchell Holt’s selection as al.com’s coach of the year and the participation of Eric Griggs, Natalie Longan, Holt and assistant coach Troy Jackson in an NFL event.
Mayor Eddy N. Lowe told the players, “Don’t forget where you’re from,” and said the team’s achievements have brought positive attention to Phenix City. Shannon Davis, the city clerk, read the formal proclamation and the list of team members recognized, including Deanna Amos, Lily Bell and Chloe Broadwater. Several council members and staff joined in thanking the players and coaches.
The ceremony included presentation of proclamations and public thanks to the coaching staff and city employees who were recognized for years of service earlier in the meeting. The council did not take policy action related to the proclamation; it served as a ceremonial recognition by the mayor and council.
The city plans no further formal action on the proclamation beyond the recognition presented at the meeting.
