The Yonkers City Council on June 10, 2025, appointed four people to the Yonkers Human Rights Commission, voting 7-0 to confirm nominees Carcina Wong, Matthew Albert, Daisy Cruz and Michael Spano Jr.
Carcina Wong and Matthew Albert were not present at the microphone when the council called their names; both nominations were moved to a vote after council members acknowledged prior interviews and committee consideration. "I would like to continue, you know, helping them and for them to fight for the rights. And it's an honor for me to be part of the board," Cruz said.

"I have a masters in psychology and I have worked for 5 years on the Westchester Mobile Crisis Team, as well as the 988, Suicide Hop team, as well as the 988, suicide hotline," Spano said.
After brief questions were taken, the council closed discussion on each nomination and recorded roll-call votes of 7-0 for all four appointments.
