"I went through and made the changes and recommendations from the council, and we put that updated document out for, the residents to review," said Chris, a staff member. Staff emphasized that holding a public hearing is part of the ordinance‑change process and answered resident questions about district breakdowns and appointment procedures.
Council members confirmed the ordinance and voted to adopt it. The presenter explained that planning commissioners are appointed by council action; applications are reviewed by staff and the city planner, who make recommendations to the council. The council noted that a few seats may become vacant by the end of the year and encouraged interested residents to apply.
No further action was required beyond adoption; staff will process appointments and keep residents informed about vacancies and application procedures.
