Board approves Joe Hartwell as JCHS athletic director; Hayden principal post to be staffed

The Jennings County School Corporation board approved Joe Hartwell, the principal at Hayden Elementary School, as JCHS athletic director by a 6-0 vote at the meeting.
Board member Travis moved to approve the recommendation; Pat seconded the motion. The chair called the question and the board voted in favor.
Hartwell attended the meeting with family and briefly introduced them. A board member said she was excited for Hartwell and noted that Nikki has a plan to ensure Hayden Elementary is led by an “excellent administrator,” and that Hartwell would assist with the transition.
The board did not take further public comment on the hire during the meeting. Staff will proceed with administrative steps to place Hartwell in the athletic-director role and to arrange a replacement at Hayden Elementary.
