Council authorizes HIDTA task-force agreement, city to provide partial overtime funding

The Green River City Council approved a contract to participate in the 2025 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, allowing one city officer to serve as a task-force officer with the Southwest enforcement team.
Police chief Sean Sturlickson explained the position has been funded by HIDTA grant support for decades, that the state contract covers the majority of the position cost and that recent changes mean the city will pay a small portion of associated overtime. Chief Sturlickson said the grant will pay about 80% of the costs and that the city had budgeted the remaining local share.
Council moved to approve the contract in the amount of $98,235 and authorized the mayor to sign the agreement pending legal review. The council approved the motion by voice vote.
