The Longmeadow School Committee completed its annual reorganization June 17, electing Michaela Fitzgerald as chair, Nicole Chenier as vice chair and Kate Bean as clerk for the 2025–26 year.
The committee nominated and voted on the three officer positions by roll‑call. During the chair vote, Michaela Fitzgerald said, “I'm gonna abstain from voting,” a procedural abstention noted in the record. The remaining members voted to appoint her chair; Nicole Chenier and Kate Bean were subsequently approved for vice‑chair and clerk respectively.
The committee assigned members to standing subcommittees (finance, policy, curriculum, evaluation) and external bodies. Jamie Hench was authorized to review and approve warrants with Michaela Fitzgerald named as his backup, and the committee authorized Hench to sign payroll sheets on the district’s behalf. Kate Bean was appointed as the School Committee representative to the middle‑school building committee.
Committee members said the assignments reflect both continuity and the need to engage new members on subcommittees that meet at varying cadences.
