Imperial council rejects bids for shop tank ventilation and tank modification project

A representative of one bidder, Josh Quintero of Total Industries, addressed the council and said his company provided “a fair and competitive bid” and expressed concern that public disclosure of bid prices leaves contractors “in a tough spot” when an item is rebid because pricing is known to competitors.
Council members acknowledged the difficulty for bidders but said the city must ensure specifications and licensing requirements are correct before proceeding. The motion to reject and to authorize staff to rebid passed 5-0.
