Staff reported the county received one sealed bid of $4,100 for the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The board approved accepting the bid and authorized sale.
On a separate item, staff said the county received one bid for the courthouse 1,000‑gallon propane tank, including any remaining propane, purging the propane lines, capping the feed line to the building and removing the vaporizer and plumbing. The lone bid was $2,800 and the bidder planned to use Hutchinson Coop to perform removal work.
Commissioner Krueger moved to accept the propane-tank bid and told the board he checked with "Joe" (staff) regarding insurance and procedures. Krueger said Joe assured him "as far as insurance and the what was all gonna be done, that it was all adequate" and that the bidder "seems to be... people who understand how to do it." The board approved the sale.
Why it matters: Sale of surplus county equipment converts unused assets into revenue and removes equipment and infrastructure that the county no longer needs. The propane-tank action included physical removal work and related liability and insurance considerations that staff checked before the vote.
