Board approves I‑Ready, Istation and Renaissance purchases to expand K–12 assessment and instruction tools

District staff presented three technology and curriculum platform quotes and the board approved all three on Thursday.
Staff member Chavez described an expansion of Curriculum Associates’ i‑Ready math beyond elementary grades into middle and high school to make diagnostic data consistent through the elementary-to-secondary transition and to give secondary teachers “immediate insight into their students’ needs.”
The board approved the Curriculum Associates quote (listed in the agenda at about $134,328.26 and confirmed during the meeting as the correct quote in staff email exchanges). Chavez said i‑Ready has been used in elementary schools for two years and the proposal would extend the program to grades 6–12.
Staff presented Istation as an upgraded reading-assessment platform with AI-supported oral-reading feedback and dyslexia-risk screening; the district requested the additional supports to extend usage beyond the K–2 screening requirement up to eighth grade. The board approved the Istation quote for $124,671.52.
The board also approved a Renaissance (Illuminate) contract for $71,036.52. Staff said the Renaissance platform produced about 65,000 assessments last year in the district — “about 13 assessments per student on an average” — and provides teachers with item-level and standard-level data to drive instruction.
All three motions passed on roll call; vendors and staff will complete procurement steps and implement the platforms during the coming school year.
