The Londonderry School Board on Tuesday approved two facilities and transportation purchases: a carpet replacement contract at Londonderry Middle School (LMS) and the purchase of a used box truck for the music program.
Facilities staff reported three carpet bids for LMS covering three full‑size classrooms, an office and the locker pod area. The low responsive bidder, R. Frasier, offered $29,890 for installation, demo and prep; the board approved that contract by unanimous vote.
District staff also presented options for a used box truck to support the music department’s instrument and equipment transport needs. After mechanical review and price comparisons, the board approved purchasing a 201X vehicle from Rider Truck Sales for $47,495; staff said the district budgeted $60,000 from the vehicle capital reserve for the purchase and associated costs (insurance, registration, a wrap and shelving).
Motion and votes: For the LMS carpet contract, Sarah Laughlin moved and Tim Porter seconded; the board voted 4–0 to approve R. Frasier for $29,890. For the box truck, Sarah Laughlin moved and Amanda Butcher seconded; the board voted 4–0 to approve $47,495 for the vehicle.
Why this matters: The carpet replacement is intended to extend the life of classroom flooring and provide a durability test case for future installations. The music truck purchase uses capital‑reserve funds to buy a vehicle the program said is necessary for transporting instruments and equipment.
Next steps: Facilities staff will schedule installation and the transportation department will complete purchase paperwork, registration, insurance and outfitting of the truck for music use.
