The council approved amendments to the capital projects fund to acquire an electric garbage truck and related infrastructure, a purchase the mayor and several council members said is fully funded by grant money secured through NYSERDA.

Councilman Justin Brash and Councilman John Martin praised the acquisition as a sustainability step. Martin noted personal experience with electric vehicles and thanked NYSERDA for covering both the vehicle and the charging infrastructure. Mayor Roach and other members said the procurement is funded through state incentives tied to the city's sustainability certification and commended staff who worked with NYSERDA to secure funding.

Council discussion noted the higher upfront cost for this early‑adoption vehicle but framed the purchase as a local leadership step that should reduce maintenance costs over time. The item was part of the consent agenda and was adopted by roll call.
