Staff told the board the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction informed the district that its paid lunch prices had fallen below the federal PLE minimum threshold, producing a negative balance in the school’s nonprofit lunch fund. The presenter said the PLE tool required a minimum 10‑cent increase for 2025–26; boards may opt to raise prices more than the minimum, but the district elected the 10‑cent increase to meet the federal requirement while keeping costs low for families.
The packet also proposed moving middle school pricing to the lower tier to reflect portion sizes that more closely match younger grades. A motion to approve the ordinance passed with a second; board members voiced “Aye” and the chair declared the measure approved.
