Lakeland School summer program adds courses, Concordia partnership and outings

Lakeland School reported increased staff participation and enrollment for its 2025 summer school program, expansion of high‑school offerings and a renewed partnership with Concordia University to bring OT candidates to campus.
Lakeland School staff told the Walworth County Disability Education Board on June 18 that its 2025 summer program will be slightly larger and better staffed than last year, with expanded course offerings and community outings.
Principal Smith said staff signed up to offer three to four courses for early‑childhood through middle school students and five programs for high‑school students, an increase over last year. Enrollment at the time of the board packet was 36 and had increased to 38 by the meeting; last year’s participation was 31.
Planned activities include an outing to Lake Geneva Lanes, a picnic in the park and a potential petting zoo visit. The school also renewed a partnership with Concordia University: OT candidates will visit and work with students during the second week, and Concordia has committed to additional days next summer to support observation and candidate recruitment. Staff noted this partnership could help with future hiring.
The board thanked staff for the revised planning approach; no formal action was required on the report.
