The Natrona County Board of Commissioners voted to extend the memorandum of understanding with the City of Casper governing the county–city opioid committee for 12 months, through June 30, 2026. Commissioners said the committee has received about $1.5 million in opioid-related funds and needs time to finalize an RFP and screen proposals.
Commissioners discussed whether to extend the MOU for six months or 12 months. Some commissioners said a shorter extension would allow the board another chance to review the RFP before funds are committed; others said the committee needs a longer period to complete interviews, scoring and awards and to align with fiscal years. The committee has added an experienced fifth panel member to assist with the RFP and expects to complete the RFP within about 30 days, committee members said.
Because the RFP work and possible multi-year program awards could carry beyond six months, commissioners approved a 12-month extension by motion and voice vote. The board asked county staff to circulate the MOU copy on file to commissioners and to provide any forthcoming RFP materials to the commission for review before awards are finalized.
