The Poughkeepsie City Planning Board voted May 28 to grant a one-year extension for the conditional site-plan approvals for the properties listed as 70, 72 and 78 Prospect Street, extending the approvals through April 25, 2026.
Applicants told the board that permitting delays and personal medical issues had prevented timely mobilization. Jennifer Alonso, a project engineer with Caesar Engineering, said the project was “ready to go pretty much immediately as soon as we get everything signed.” Nathaniel Gooden, a project engineer from Seager Engineering who joined the meeting, said he had no objections and urged the board to grant the extension.
Why it matters: The extension preserves the project sponsor’s previously granted approvals while they resolve outstanding permit and mobilization issues and secure demolition and building permits needed to start phase one.
At the meeting the board chair asked whether any members had questions about project progress. Applicants said little had advanced since conditional approval; Alonso summarized that the sponsor had been unable to obtain building permits within the initial period and sought more time. A motion to approve a one-year extension was made and seconded and carried on a voice vote. The board clarified the extension runs from the original approval date of April 25, 2024, through April 25, 2026.
Details and next steps: Applicants said the next permits needed include a building permit and a demolition permit for a small garage. The board did not attach additional conditions beyond the standard extension; staff and applicants will continue coordination on final permit submittals.
The board approved the extension during its regular meeting; applicants were advised to resume coordination with city departments and to return with any new materials if staff requested additional review.
