Poughkeepsie staff to seek bond approvals for vehicles; Joint Water bid to be reissued

City staff said at the Jan. 8 Poughkeepsie Board of Contracts and Supply meeting they will move forward with bond resolutions to finance a vac truck and two multipurpose vehicles and aim to present the resolutions to City Council in February.
“Bottom line is I'm gonna go borrow the amount of money we need to go purchase those things, get them on order. I wanna do that in the next few weeks,” a city official said during the meeting. Staff said the procurement process will be competitive unless the vehicles are already on contract and that the absence of the procurement agent may make the process more cumbersome.
Staff asked that required materials be ready for the Feb. 4 council meeting (submission deadline Jan. 24). For the second February meeting, Feb. 18, agenda materials would need to be submitted by Feb. 7 so they can be prepped. Staff said they would try to have everything ready for council by Feb. 18.
The board also discussed a Joint Water project for which a recent bid produced only one response and came in “significantly higher” than estimated. The city plans to reissue the bid to attract more competition. The transcript records an estimated Poughkeepsie City share of the project at “around $125,000, give or take.”
No formal vote was recorded on the borrowing plan or the Joint Water bid; the board did not take action on these items at the Jan. 8 meeting. The meeting concluded with a voice motion to adjourn that was seconded and approved by the board.
