The Livingston Parish School Board adopted a resolution levying millages for the 2025 tax roll after a roll-call vote, following presentation of the proposed rates and a formal motion and second.
The board approved a parishwide set of levies including a constitutional general fund millage of 3.29 mills, an additional support general fund millage of 7.18 mills, a special maintenance millage of 7 mills and a district construction fund millage (District 5) of 5 mills; the resolution also listed a 7.64-mill levy for District 1 (Denham Springs). The resolution as read directed parish officials to spread and collect the levies on the 2025 assessment roll “according to law.”
The adoption matters because the levies provide recurring operating and capital revenue for Livingston Parish schools and the resolution formally places the amounts on the 2025 tax roll. The board read the resolution in full and conducted a required roll-call vote for adoption.
A motion to adopt the millage rates was made by Board member Jeff Frizzell and seconded by Board member Cecil Harris. The record shows board members Brad Sharp, Bob Seals, Jeff Frizzell, Brad Harris, Jeff Cox, Caitlin Cochran, Dr. Ron McMorris and Link (board member) all voting yes on the roll call; the presiding officer announced the motion carried.
After the vote, a board member noted that the Walker district's millage had been lowered from 10.25 mills last year to 9.25 mills for 2025 to cover debt service, and presenters said the reductions were possible because of increased revenue. Board members also said staff presented millage information to the public at an assessor-hosted parishwide meeting prior to the adoption.
The resolution text recorded in the meeting file places the listed mills on the 2025 tax roll and directs collection and enforcement under existing law. The board did not reference a specific statute during the reading; the resolution language directed collection "according to law."
Board members did not amend the resolution on the floor; the action taken was formal adoption by roll call. No additional implementation tasks or follow-up assignments were recorded during the millage item.
The millage resolution and the roll-call vote were read into the record and entered as adopted; the board moved on to subsequent agenda items.
