He said sessions run in two blocks: an earlier session for younger players and an evening session for older kids, with play continuing until about 10 p.m.
Fallon said the program provides food and shirts to participants: "We give them food. We send them home with, we send them home with, food. We also have the t shirts which they have on. They're all wearing them. They love them this year." He also said the county and community partners — including parks and recreation, police and fire departments — are on site to support the program.
A staff member identified as a program coordinator for Glynn County Recreation and Parks described volunteers and staff refereeing pickup games so players rotate and everyone gets playing time. Jerry Moore, a longtime parks and recreation administrator who attended the event, was introduced during the segment as helping run the nights.
Students who attended said they were happy to be back. Jenny Jackson, identified on air as a student at Golden Ave Elementary School, told the host she plays point guard. An older participant identified himself as a player at Brunswick High School.
Organizers said the program includes snacks and occasional extra support — for example, providing shoes for some participants — and that the county’s Board of Education and Board of Commissioners have expressed support. Fallon closed the segment by noting the county will continue the series and that staff and volunteers plan to be back at future Friday evenings.
Organizers did not announce specific enrollment caps, registration deadlines or a season end date during the segment.
