Sarah Dressel, the city’s human resources director, presented two personnel-policy items to the Finance, Budget & Personnel Committee on June 17: an update to Policy 3.578 (Direct Deposit) and deletion of Policy 3.900 (Healthy Options).
Dressel said the direct-deposit revision aligns policy with the city’s new HRIS system and eliminates the prior paper-based documentation requirements. "With our new HRIS system ... it allows us to do all of that electronically safely," she said, and recommended the committee forward the policy update to the common council for approval.
On the healthy-options policy, Dressel said the city no longer has vending machines in most facilities and that the policy can be deleted; she noted the city could reinstate a policy if vending machines return. "We don't want it to appear that we don't want healthy options. We definitely still do," she said, explaining the practical reason for deletion.
Committee members moved and seconded both agenda items and approved each by voice vote; both recommendations will be forwarded to the common council for final action.
