The Show Low City Council unanimously adopted an intergovernmental agreement with the Arizona Department of Water Resources and approved a professional-services contract with Tetra Tech for a dam-safety study of Jaques Dam at Show Low Lake.
City staff said ADWR will reimburse 100% of the study cost up to $535,000 and that the study is the next step to secure construction funding for future spillway upgrades. The city will administer the project; staff said the project budget and the professional-services contract are set at $535,000.
"This study will be the next step in securing construction funding for future spillway upgrades," City staff member Mister Cupp said. "The project will be administered by the city, and ADWR will reimburse 100% of the cost up to $535,000. Project budget is $535,000."
According to staff, two statements of qualification were received for engineering services; Tetra Tech was selected by staff and the council approved a professional-services contract for an amount not to exceed $535,000 for City of Show Low project number FM4125.
A council member moved to adopt the ADWR intergovernmental agreement; Councilman Whipple made the motion and the council approved it unanimously. Later, the council also moved to approve the Tetra Tech contract; the motion passed unanimously with a second by Councilman Adams.
Staff noted the study will be administered per the ADWR agreement and that reimbursement from ADWR will cover the consultant cost. The council did not set a construction schedule for any subsequent work; staff characterized this action as the administrative and design step required to pursue construction funding.
