The Show Low City Council unanimously approved a professional services agreement Tuesday with 4 Line Studios to design a planned business incubator in a vacant school building at City Campus, 760 West McNeil.
City staff told the council the city received planning grant funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to prepare a planning document for the incubator and to pay for 75% of plans and specifications under the grant. The building is a single-story, roughly 20,000-square-foot brick masonry structure; the planned renovation includes a commercial kitchen, offices, conference rooms, technology rooms, restrooms and storage.
"The city has selected a vacant school building located at City Campus 760 West McNeil in Show Low. The single story brick masonry building is approximately 20,000 square feet," Mister Cupp said during the presentation. He said the grant budget includes funding for 75% of plans and specifications and that the remainder of design work will be performed when construction funding is available.
Staff solicited statements of qualification and received six responses. A seven-member selection committee ranked the firms; 4 Line Studios was the highest-ranked. Staff recommended and the council approved a professional services agreement with 4 Line Studios for design work in an amount not to exceed $96,264.
Council discussion focused on the selection process and scope; no public comment was made during the item. The motion to approve the agreement passed unanimously with a second by Councilman Judd.
Staff said the agreement will satisfy planning-grant requirements and maximize available grant funds; construction-phase work will depend on future funding.
