The Green Bay Plan Commission voted Monday to recommend approval of a conditional-use permit (CUP) for a concrete, asphalt and rock crushing facility proposed by Martel Development LLC on property described in the application as the 1300 block of Pearlbut Street. The motion carried and the item will go to the City Council on June 24 for final action.
Planning staff told the commission the site is within the general industrial future land‑use designation and that the proposed use meets the seven conditional‑use standards in the zoning code. Staff reported they notified Alder DeLee and adjacent property owners within 400 feet and received no inquiries. Because the property is in a heavy industrial area and abuts county and city maintenance yards and the interstate, staff said the use would not conflict with nearby residential districts.
The commission approved the permit with two conditions: the facility must provide a permanent indoor restroom and wash station on site that meets zoning, building and plumbing code requirements, and the operation must comply with all other applicable regulations. The motion was made and approved during the meeting; the staff recommendation and conditions will be included in the record forwarded to council.
No members of the public spoke during the public hearing on the item. Commissioners did not record additional amendments to the conditions in the meeting; the staff recommendation and the two listed conditions were the basis for the commission vote.
Approval by the Plan Commission is a recommendation; the City Council will consider the permit and conditions at its June 24 meeting.
